Memorial Day is right around the corner! Whether you to spend it poolside, napping, out on a boat, or like us at David Scott Lee Buick GMC, on the beach, it’s time to get your festive plans set in stone. Why have your BBQ at the dining room table when you can enjoy it on the beach? Read over these steps for planning the perfect Memorial Day picnic, just in time for May 30!
Something to Sit On
The sand can take the fun out of being at the beach sometimes. The first step to enjoying a picnic on the beach is bringing a large blanket, bed sheet, or tablecloth to sit on. You may be thinking a towel will do, but those thick corners tend to fly up too easily. The larger the garment, the more room there is to lounge and enjoy.
For Serving
Now that you are sitting nicely, it’s time to serve your food like a professional. The sandy beach can be uneven at times, causing your food and drinks to topple over. To improve balance and aesthetics, pack some cutting boards to keep your meal safe from spills.
Pack an Umbrella
Too much of a good thing isn’t such a good thing. Many escape to the beach to experience the sun, but some can’t handle the heat for as long. To protect your skin and keep yourself from overheating, make sure you bring an umbrella. After all, if you’re going to be indulging in warm foods, it’s much more pleasant to enjoy them in the shade.
Bring Hand Wipes and Napkins
It might be impossible to enjoy a delicious meal without getting your hands a little dirty. Make sure you bring plenty of napkins and hand wipes. If you want to keep it a little more eco-friendly, cloth napkins will do the trick.

Avoid these Foods
Everything tastes better at the beach, besides these foods:
- Mayonnaise
- Sushi or Fish
- Meats
- Ice Cream
- Sodas
You will want to avoid any food items that spoil quickly, contain a lot of sugar, or melt quickly.
