History
The Henderson family purchased the park in 1983 and opened it to the public a few years later in 1991. The initial idea was to protect the natural environment while making it enjoyable for the public. Initially, there were only 2 picnic pavilions, some restrooms, some beach access boardwalks, and an entrance station/support facilities. Today the park is home to all of those amenities plus 60 different campsites, a bathhouse, and a playground.
Entertainment
Visitors of the Henderson Beach State Park can spend their time doing so many different things. There is something that everyone will enjoy! RV’s are welcome to park and stay at the campsite. Bicyclists and hikers can enjoy the paved roads and trails of the park. Beach-goers can spend the day fishing from one of the many boardwalks, swimming in the warm water, or watching the surrounding wildlife.
Amenities
There are six different picnic pavilions available, three of which are adjacent to restrooms. These pavilions feature barbecue grills perfect for family get-togethers. These can be rented out for your future events. The playground is conveniently placed where adult supervisors can enjoy looking out onto the gulf while the little one’s play. There are cold day showers provided for beach-goers, as well as heated and air-conditioned restrooms, coin operated washer/dryers, and vending machines. Pets are welcome at the Henderson Beach State Park. Although, they ask that pets remain leashed and controlled. Make sure to clean up after your pets by using their “mutt mitts!”

Hours, Fees, & More Information
The park is open from 8:00 a.m. until sundown every single day. Picnic pavilion rental is $100 a day plus tax. Camping is $30 a night plus tax. There is also a nonrefundable $6.70 reservation fee and a $7 nightly utility fee for RV, cabin, bungalow, boat and yurt units. The utility fee includes water, electricity and sewer. Daily admission is $6 per vehicle (2-8 passengers), $4 for a single rider in a vehicle, and $2 for pedestrians, bicyclists, and passengers in a vehicle that holds an Annual Individual Entrance Pass.
